MSM Competency Training Day 1: PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS IN WORKING WITH MSM (Facilitator Manual)
This facilitator manual has been developed as part of the Anova Health Institute’s model of institutionalising competence related to men who have sex with men (MSM) within the public health sector, in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH). The model is based on extensive experience gained through our Health4Men project, primarily the two centres of excellence in MSM sexual health, and includes the following components:
1. Sensitising and facilitating attitudinal shifts through psychosexual content
2. Instilling knowledge through focused medical training of DOH clinicians
3. Translating knowledge into skill through mentoring of DOH clinicians
4. Providing ongoing technical support to competent sites
The manual is supported by a participant workbook and two additional Anova Health Institute publications, From Top to Bottom: A sex-positive approach for men who have sex with men, a manual for healthcare providers and MSM in your pocket: sexual healthcare for men who have sex with men.
This manual is intended for distribution and use by any organisation promoting MSM competent health services; it may be copied and disseminated freely provided that the Anova Health Institute is fully acknowledged as the author and publisher.
