TECHNICAL BRIEFS ON HIV & YOUNG KEY POPULATIONS

To help address the HIV epidemic among young members of key populations, the United Nations Interagency Working Group on Key Populations has produced a series of technical briefs focused on the needs and realities of young men who have sex with men, young people who sell sex, young people who use drugs, and young transgender people.
 
The briefs were supposed to be issued at the 20th International AIDS Conference, taking place from July 20 through 25 in Melbourne, Australia. But at the last minute, the UN held back the briefs because some UN agencies would not sign on to the content – all of which is based on the best available evidence on HIV and young key populations.
 
Young people cannot afford to wait for UN politics. A coalition of agencies, including the Global Forum on MSM & HIV (MSMGF), is urging for the publication of the technical briefs as-is. These publications, still labaled as "drafts," can be found at the links below, as can the petition calling for their adoption and release as final versions:
