The HIV prevalence rate among men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM) in South Africa has been found to be consistently higher than the general population in a number of research studies. The reasons for this increased vulnerability to HIV infection have not been widely researched. This exploratory research offers a broad overview of the various elements that affect HIV risk among MSM in Cape Town, South Africa and offers recommendations for HIV prevention efforts and further research.
During the 5th South African AIDS Conference, held in Durban over the period of 7-10 June 2011, Anova Health Institute under the banner of Health4Men presented on the lessons learnt from these initiatives. This also includes developments in prevention, treatment and care, plus research and training of healthcare workers.

The column compared homosexuality to bestiality, claiming that allowing gay marriage meant that South African society was only a short step away from allowing human’s to marry animals.
